BRECHIN Golf Club seniors have retained their very own version of the Mini Ryder Cup against a team of Americans who flkew over to the area to sample the delights of Brechin Golf Club's course and those throughout Angus and Fife.
In the first match Troy Melvin and senior's convenor Neil Young defeated Jim Hodge and Chuck cates 1-0. Jim hails from Honolulu and Chuck from Clarksville, Tennessee. The Americans got their own back in the next game when Brechin's David Blackie and Alex McAllister were defeated by Armando Oakes and Joe Staten of Honolulu and Colorado Springs respectively also by a score of one - nil.

Next up for Brechin was Andy Lyon and Jack gordon and they put the home team in an unassaiable position with a 1-0 win over John Peterson of Honolulu and John McKay of Virginia Beach

And Brechin made it a 3 -1 success in the final game with John Murphy and Mike Ford o recording a 1-0 win over and Gerrit Osborn of Honolulu and Dennis Adams of San Antonio.

This is Brechin's second success in the Mini Ryder Cup and members are already looking forward to the next competition, which will hopefully be held in another two years time.
